Grades 3-8 Recreational Baseball/Softball Registration 2012

These registration instructions are NOT for grades K-2, which will register at a later date, their registration forms will be sent home via the school. Recreational baseball and softball for children in grades 3-8 is available through Diamond Council of Columbia.  Games are played in Columbia (generally 2/week).  Games should begin in April, 2012 and will continue through June.  Players wishing to be placed on teams with other Ashland children that will be able to practice locally should select Ashland Optimist during the online registration process.  We cannot guarantee placement on an Ashland based team, but will do our best to accommodate everyone.

Registration:  The cost will be $90 for the season.  The deadline to register is Feb. 17, 2012.  Registration is online, which allows for the use of credit cards to pay the registration fee.  The website  for online registration is http://diamondcouncil.net/registration. Just follow the prompts.  If you have registered with DCC before it is a very quick process to reconfirm the information (just be sure to change the grade, and shirt size).  There will be a question that asks if the player is with Ashland Optimist.  You MUST check the “YES” box if you are interested in placing your player on an Ashland based team.  If you fail to check that box your player will be assigned to a Columbia based team. 

For online registration:

1. Go to http://diamondcouncil.net/registration
2. Click the large red “Register for the 2012 Season Now” button
3. Choose whether you have a new or returning player
4. If you are a returning player enter the parent or player name or ID.
5. Update or add a parent (you may add 1, 2 or more), please be complete with the information given and check to see that the information is up to date.
6. Add your player (or update if they are already listed Please select Southern Boone Elementary as the nearest school.
7. Please be sure to register your player for a recreational league.  Optimist does not sponsor competitive players
8. When asked about coaching, please consider volunteering.  Extra hands are always welcome.
9. Please check yes, for Ashland Optimist
10. Complete the screens for:  other volunteers (please help if you can), donations, and sponsors (parents relative and friends are always welcome to sponsor their player’s team)
11. Make payment with credit card or follow directions to pay by check. You must complete payment in order to be registered.  Be sure to click the finalize button or your player will not be registered.

Team Placement:  When possible, players registering through Ashland Optimist will be placed on Ashland based teams.  If there are no Ashland coaches for an age group or if there are too many players for the team(s), players will be placed with Columbia teams.  We do our best to place all of the children on Ashland teams, but sometimes the numbers just don’t work out and we have to place a few on a Columbia team.  If that happens we try to place them together so they can carpool for practice.  Register early for the best chance at getting your player on an Ashland team.
